Is there away to make shadows not look different or darker
coming off a color on tinted backgroung to white

I can't understand your question. Could you perhaps try explaining what you want to do again?

Are you referring to the optical illusion that a shadow is darker when there is white under it (instead of some color tint underneath)?
I assume you have some image placed and a drop shadow applied to it, with some portion of the image over some color, and another portion of the image on a white background.
Put a guide right where your background tint ends and the white begins.
Step and repeat the image. Then with the closed arrow, pull the top edge of the top image down and snap it to the guide, this will be the portion of your image in the color area, leave the shadow as is. Then select the bottom image, and pull the bottom edge of that up the the guide, this part of the image is in the white background, you can then turn the opacity of this image down to the lightness you desire.

Is there any way to isolate a drop shadow that has been creted in Indesign?
What I want is the object and the shadow isolated so I can place ithem on different layer.

There is a way to show only the shadow when an image is on a transparent background. Just put a large feather on the image box, this will make the contents invisible but the shadow will stay.

jcape I tried what you said and lo and behold it worked. Thats great this is the answer I've been looking for. Although if I create a shadow on a image feather will work but I can't delate the link.

Sometimes I work with large files and this will affect the file size, but its a good workaround.

Thanks
