Sometimes I apply a shadow to an object and then I decide to include another object with the same characteristics as the first one. But I can't find a way to recover the same properties a gave before. Is there any way to find out exactly what I have chosen so I can come back and forth to apply it??

There's the appearance palette, it will give you all the info about any applied effects and styles.

You can save styles, of course, so you can apply stuff to objects with one click in the future.

One quick way to apply a style from one object to another, is to go to the layer palette, and click on the sublayer visibility button, then you will see any objects with an effect applied (they have a gray ball on the right end of the sublayer line), and alt-drag that ball over to the object line item of the object you want to apply the effect to.
