We have been using Shadow Copy (previous versions) feature very successfully for some time. Copies are made twice a day and retained for 7 days.
This morning I can only see two copies (both made yesterday) available.
The server was rebooted the night before last. Will that have made the previous copies disappear? Is there any way this can be prevented?

Yes thanks - I have just found the following about an hour before the reboot.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: VolSnap
Event Category: None
Event ID: 25
Date: 08/12/2004
Time: 16:42:08
User: N/A
Computer: SC-FILE
Description:
The shadow copies of volume D: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.

I've been running shadow copies on three file servers for a while now and have only had this happen once, unless it starts happening on a regular basis i wouldn't worry. As the error report says it could be due to high IO at the time. It almost certainly won't be to do with the reeboot.
