Hello
I have rehosted a 6.0 configuration to new hardware and completed a 6.5.0 for NT upgrade.
I can start Raptor and the previous config appears as expected in RMC. When I now try and make and changes (e.g. add DNS forwarder)I get the following when I try and Save & Reconfigure:
"Failed to commit the saved config sgupdate Error 17. Win32 System Error 0x00000015. The device is not ready".

I can only find support related to Error 27 from Symantec.com. I am using NT 4.0 Server SP5, logged in as local Administrator and I have removed the readonly attributes from the sg folder.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Hey Wales,

Sounds like you have an interesting problem. First thing I have to check is, did you run the SKSTOOL before you moved the config files from the old hardware and run it again on the new hardware. Check the Symantec site for more info on this if you did not.

One thing you can try, open up the config.cf file and look for the line “dnsd.host_file_dir=” and make sure that this is pointing to the correct location of your hosts files. It should be something like this “dnsd.host_file_dir=C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc” but check your NT box to make sure that this directory and hosts files are there.

Good luck,

tips on fixing any problem in the world
1. Check google / google-groups
2. check the vendor support page
3. get a book on the topic

Hi Wales,
Where on Symantec is the support related to error 27?
I have a similar issue

It is Doc ID: 2000091416122252 in the Synmantec knowledge base.
