All,

Ive a series of SGI octanes running irix65.11. They all have nfs mounted home directorys on a solaris and netapps server. The machines run fine locally as root. However as soon as a user account is used it runs real slow. i.e and ls takes 10 seconds rather then instant. As far as I can see no mounts have changed? Any ideas would be helpfull?

thanks

Keith

You should try upgrading IRIX to at least 6.5.13. This fixed many networking issues as well as NFS problems. Also is your etc/nsswitch.conf file have proper resolution order. I have seen this slow down connections. It should read files nis in your ethers and normally netgroup is nis and hosts are nis dns files.
