Hi All,

I have a server whose CPU is running at 100%. The process that is causing this is ==>SFMPSEXE.EXE

Does anyone have any idea what this process is and why it may be causing the CPU to stay at 100%?

I have not been able to find anything on Technet or on Microsoft's knowledgebase.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Zoey

I don't recall ever seeing that process, so I don't think its a generic MS one.

Check your Services in Control Panel, see if something is named along those lines. (If you can't "End Task" the process, chances are it's a service/device that needs to be stopped). [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

Hmm apparently its an NT4 file alright, print services for macintosh.

Thanks guys. This explains what this process is. I just need to find out why this is causing our server to stay at 100%. I rebooted the server last night but it still is running at 100%. Any ideas on this?

TIA,
Zoey

Hello,

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Solution was to do this:

(1) Delete all pending print jobs for all printers
(2) Shutdown/restart server
(3) Stop/Restart spooler service.

Appeared that some print jobs was causing the spooler to go to a 100%. The first time I rebooted I did not delete these print jobs.

I Had one like this several months ago. It was related to the default zone in apple talk. I fixed the problem by taking the macintoshes out of the domain, uninstalling and reinstalling apple talk.
