I am installing Windows Server 2003.
It's been more than two hours that it says:
Setup will complete in approximately: 37 minutes.
Things are changing on the screen and the mouse cn move, but it is still into Windows installation with this message.
How long should I still wait? Should I reboot (again, because I already had too reboot at the beginning)?

I had this issue as well...wait, and it will finish...

Not to scare you, but my last install on a AMD XP 1800 took about 16 hours...

Wow but that sounds EXTREMELY LONG. How much ram do you have on the computer ?

Thank you Achuchman.
Indeed that is scary. 16 Hours?
By the way, my new system has S-ATA hard drive. Is that OK?

not really , what specs??? i had amd 850 256mb ram and it took 35 mins.. so wonder if there is a component prob!!!
is the machine custom built/factory soap test might be in order by company u got it from...

What with hyperthread CPU stuff? S-ATA hard drive?
Naturally there are so many different possible configurations, it's hard to tell what particular component would make this trouble.
In my case I had a blue screen in while the installation was still in course (at the last stages actually when you choose the region and languages) a serious error stopped the installation "...to protect my system from damage", etc.
I tried to reformat the Maxtor 120GB Hard disk again with MaxBlast, but got into the same situation, so I returned the system.
Now I will probably buy a Fujitsu-Siemens PC today and hope it would work better.
I'll let you know.

16 hours is scary indeed...

What is even crazier, I also installed 2003 on a Dell, P-III with 256M of ram, and it completed in a normal time frame.

I am sure it was hardware related on the other machine, but with the removal of everything, it came down to the processor, MB, memory, or HD...

The specs were as follows:
AMD XP 1800
512MB Kensington Memory
Biiostar Motherboard
80GB Western-Digital HD (7200 RPM)

The machine was custom built, as several were at the time, and they do not have any issues with XP Pro...Just Server 2003...go figure... [neutral]

my appoligies (the not really was the time it set up to)

i have just had 3 new servers delivered and they had SATA hard drives 180 mirrored 280 mirrored.. i would certainly have them bench tested to see if there is a hardware conflict

Well, now I have news.
With an HP Pavillion, the installation went smoothly in about half an hour or a little more.

Cheers
