Hello there,

I have Linksys router with WAN side has dynamic IP assigned by ISP, for now it's 65.92.155.96 and LAN side 192.168.1.1.

So I use, for my WAN NIC the 65.95.155.96 IP assigened by ISP. along with SM for that particular class 255.0.0.0 and for Gateway I use the IP from router the LAN side 192.168.1.1.

Here is my current IP configuration at Linksys as follows:
WAN:
IP: 65.92.155.96
DNS: 209.226.175.224
DNS: 198.235.216.110
LAN:
IP: 192.168.1.1
SM: 255.255.255.0
with DHCP server disabled (I use W2003 server as DHCP)

The NIC1 (external)
IP: 65.92.155.96
SM: 255.0.0.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 209.226.175.224
DNS: 198.235.216.110

The problem I have is I cannot not access the router from this server 2003 - I have page cannot be displayed whenever I type adn I can't figure out exactly what's wrong wth this.

Could anyone please help?
Thanks
TT

One meager guess is.. because of this:
The NIC1 (external)
IP: 65.92.155.96
SM: 255.0.0.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 209.226.175.224
DNS: 198.235.216.110

The router probably thinks an outside source is trying to logon to it. This funtion is disabled by default.

The router is only going to let you logon to it from a machine in the same subnet.

Hi there,

Thanks, you are correct, have to be in same subnet, as soon as I do that, acessing the router is no problem

OLD
IP: 65.92.155.96
SM: 255.0.0.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 209.226.175.224
DNS: 198.235.216.110

NEW
IP: 192.168.1.2
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
DNS: Blank

So, it can be same subnet with the router, however I still have problem when people from outside want to access my website, I hope someone can help me with this, thanks

TT

Regarding your website / server:

I have zero experience with Linksys routers but my assumptions are these...
If you bought one of the higher level Linksys it will have options (most likely buried in the "advanced" settings area) to pass and block specific types of traffic, possibly even setup static routes. Look in these settings, they may have even made it easy and it's as simple as putting in the IP for the webserver and clicking apply.

Open port 80 for http.

Thanks for your suggestion....

NEW
IP: 192.168.1.2
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
DNS: Blank

It works just fine with thsi configuration along with Port forwarding

Thanks again
