I know that I could just download the latest version of IOS that this switch will support, 11.2(8.6)SA6, but I wanted to know how would I be able to setup VLANs if I did not have access to the latest IOS? The current version is 11.2(8)SA1, which according to Cisco is the original it came out with.
The commands are different in the original version, what are they?

Thanx in advance.

Yo dood!

Here is how you do it:

switch#vlan ?
database Configure VLAN database

switch#vlan database

then hit enter! You will get into the "VLAN database" mode, I did this on a switch that was running 11.2(8)SA5 (an older version than yours!!!) and this switch is working/running fine! From here you can setup/create your vlans and then later on go back into global config and add the ports to the respective VLANs!!!!

Post a reply if you need more help dood!

Dude, my switch is currently running 11.2(8)SA1, that's older than 11.2(8)SA5!!! And i know about the #vlan command, the whole question is that in 11.2(8)SA1 this command does not exist!

Read my post carefully!
