Greetings Everyone,

I am running Windows 2000 Server (No AD) on NT Domain.

We currently have a 2000 Server setup as a VPN server. That all works fine. What I am trying to do is assign a Static IP address to Each user that connects. We want them to always get the same Ip address.

EX: We have a user called "UserAccount1"

That person Currently VPN's into our 2000 server and gets assigned a Dynamic Ip address.

We want to setup a Static Ip address Pool AND have that user assigned to only 1 Ip address in that pool. So that everytime that person connects we know what IP address they have.

(END / SUMMARY)

We want to setup backups to run on computers which VPN into our Network. Setting up these jobs need to be done by IP Address. We need to make sure that each user continues to get the same IP address to verify everyone is being backed up.

Help..

Thanks,

If they always connect up from the same machine, you should be able to reserve their IP addresses in the DHCP scope using their MAC address.

I'd be very interested on hearing more on this. ANY pointers. I have folks in the field who VPN in from the same IP address and only one person can VPN in at a time. Assigning an IP per MAC addr would be a nice solution.
When I came in this WIN2000 was set up here - any pointers on where I can make such config changes?
