I have built an application. The setup file that I built with the wizard has me wanting more (a lot more). But I am a little confused. I have figured out where I need to go in the setup project to add desktop icons and program folder information, but how to do this is not friendly enough for me to figure out. Could someone provide a step by step?

Also, is there a way to get the installation to not fail if the .NET Framework is not present, but rather prompt user with "Would you like to install the .NET Framework v1.x?" and then install it if yes, and continue the application install?

I figured out how to do the desktop shortcut and program folder stuff, but does anybody know if is it possible to have it install the .NET Framework if it is not on the target computer?

Yes it is possible. You will have to include the .Net redistributable in your setup(dotnetfx.exe), which is available on Microsoft's website and is also included with the framework. You will also have to use a special setup.exe bootstrapper as well.
Go to msdn.microsoft.com and do a search on this article.
"Using Visual Studio .NET to redistribute the .NET framework.
