Setup message only mailbox on 3300 embedded VM to play and hang up

Hi, All

Need to setup an AH message on 3300 CX (MCD 4.2) that plays greeting and hangs up not take a message. Have looked at the info only and message only MBs and dosn't hang up after playing the message.

Whats the simplist way to go about it?? Any trickery we can perform in config to do this???

Message only is for taking messages not playing them.

Information only reverts to the AA, not hangup

Menu Node will repeat 3 times but can then be designated to hangup.

If you want to use a Mailbox - No solution (menu node is closest)

Alternatively:

You can designate a port/ports to be a RAD.

A RAD will play and hangup.

But RAD messages, at least those I've used, seem to degrade over time. Mitel is behind the curve on this. We had 'announce-only' mailboxes in Octel for 20+ years that would hang up at the end of the message. Even this new (expletive deleted) I've been saddled with can do it (though like everything else from that outfit is extremely granular, requiring 20-odd programming steps to build it.

Yep agree with dissappointment the system should have a simple message mailbox that hangs up. Maybe one day

Will give all suggestions ago. RAD is good but if you want multiple messages you swallow up VM ports. Luckily I only need one.

How about routing to a ACD group that plays the RAD (message) then disconnects?

the point being the caller can't do anything after its played the message so they should just hang up especially if you tell them to do so at the end of the message...

Wireman50 - After an info mailbox the system reverts back to the autoatt. This is quite often undesirable. Asking the customer to hang up is not a solution.

As I have found myself saying many times. The Embedded mail is NOT a fully featured messaging system. In my opinion it is purposely handicapped in ways such as this to keep the product cheap (both meanings). Mitel's Nupoint IS a fully featured VM and has all the bells and whistles one might desire.

Have gone with menu node and enabling disconnect in VM admin edit mailbox feature. Works ok. Though plays message three times before disconnecting, but in this instance is fine.
