Hi, I am setting up a system for my small business for the first time and could use some guidance if somebody would be so kind.

Here is what I have and what I would like to accomplish with it:

- have a used but functional Merlin Legend R7-V10 with Messaging 1.0
-I have 3 incoming lines with rollover, that will ring simultaneously at 6 phones.
-I would like to have an Attendant answer all 3 lines immediately, and immediately send to the phones.
-There will be 1 and sometimes 2 people answering the phones from wherever they happen to be in the building at the time the phone rings.
-I have a 408 card with caller ID and REALLY want the numbers to come through each time. (I understand that may be a problem with the Attendant??)
-When there is a call in progress, I would like additional callers to get a message that we will be right with them, and the calls to be put into queue with music on hold.
-When the call in progress ends I would like the next call to immediately begin ringing on the phones
-If 2 people are available to answer I would like to be able to let the system know that so that additional calls will ring at another phone. It would be ok if all 3 lines were at each phone I suppose, and we could answer and put on hold if we had to. If handled by Attendant would also like to give callers the option to leave a message if they would rather not hold.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Scott

Oh if it matters all 3 lines are Loop Start.

You can download the manual at I am not sure that anyone on the forums will post a novel, detailing how to set your system up. I have enough problems keeping my workload up to date.
BUT, there is always an oddball around here.

I don't expect anyone to write a novel. I will probably figure it out myself. I wired and installed the whole system already and its functional, I have the manual, just don't have a good understanding of all the different programming options and how I should incorporate them with an auto attendant, and which options I should use to do what I'm trying to do.

I came across this group and thought perhaps somebody could point me toward a link for a boiler plate type setup for what I'm trying to do.

I assume that there are other small businesses using similar hardware and have similar demands.

I will appreciate any input or links anyone has the spare time to offer. Please dont go out of your way or spend too much time on this.
Thanks,
Scott

If you do a search in this form you will see a number of posts that deal with basic setup of a Merlin Messaging system - basically whether it is a Merlin Mail, Legend 007 MLM or Merlin Messaging - most of the setup steps are identical. As for your 6 phones - you need to set them up in Group and have the autoattendant route calls to that group. You should read the reference manual to understand the different types of groups you can set up and see which type best meets your needs. As for the message callers hear while waiting - you will have to use the Music-on-Hold option to record and play the messages you want played. You can either buy a Music-on-Hold interface and record your own tape - or buy a ready-made digital unit that plays the nauseating "your call is important to us" message over and over in endless variations.

Well I was having quite a bit of trouble getting things to do what they are supposed to... but it appears that alot of my troubles were resolved after defaulting the system back to factory specs.
Thanks
