Setup H.323 IP Trunk Between CS1000 & Avaya Communication Manager 4.0

Hi Nortel Experts,

As per the subject, what arethe licenses need on Nortel Cs1000 to enable me to add IP trunk. i have followed the document to administer the integration with nortel, however, im not able to add the trunk to the route on the nortel side becuase it seems its not accepting Terminal Number (TN) for this trunk. which terminal number i should use for the IP trunk? how i can see the list of unused Terminal numbers (TN) for H.323 Trunks?

any ideas experts.

You program IP trunks on Virtual TNs, so you will need at least one Virtual loop in your system.

You will also need to program an IP Tie Route before you are able to program a trunk.

Ok Dear, i have added a virtual loop in the super loop. have added loop "8". but how to should be the sytax of the TN " 08 0001" or what? second thing, where i can i see if i have license for IP peer H.323 trunk. how to get new license if required and if i have the license .. how its will be uploaded on the CS1000 using the element manager.

You can use Loop 8 , but Loop 8 is a superloop. Better you use virtual Loops 200 or 204 or 208 or 212 or 216.....252.

The TN format is for loop 200 the first TN 200 0 0 0
the last TN 200 0 1 31.

Check your license in LD 22

and how i can copy it to that flash card.. i just take it and plug it in My PC or there is flash reader? after i copy the file im assuiming that i should reboot the system to capture the new license

Take the flash card and plug it in your PC . Copy the keycode file in the root

Normaly a sysload is not needed if you add license.

Can i transfer or upload the license file remotely through FTP ? im not onsite thats why.. in Avaya side this is possible

You can load new keycode file remotetly couple ways>

Use Hyperterminal

LD 143
KUPL
Transfer/sent text file

then

KNEW (drive it was saved to or new)

other way is to FTP or using PDT RX file to floppy or CF2 then use KNEW

if floppy, put on root directory
if CF2, put in cf2/keycode directory

Thanks Buddy, could you give me a link for the excat procedures, you know this is the first time i will do it on Nortel so im afraid to get system down, so should i take back up before and if yes, how?

2nd thing using the hyper terminal, should i telnet to the system?

M1spezi - you are correct it is better to use a higher loop, but they are not virtual/phantom/super unless you build them that way. loop 8 does not have to be a superloop just because it fits the multi of 4 protocol...

do i need to buy card for DSP for h.323 trunking, i already have IP phones and i want to use the same DSP that IP phones use. or H.323 trunk will not work without buying specific DSP card ?
