Setup dial 9 for line 061 - BCM50

Hi everyone.
I would like to set up a BCM50 so that I can dial 9 and get second dial tone for an outgoing external line when the intercom button is selected (for analog outgoing CO line 061 physically connected to the system). I don't want to have a button for each line on every phone (I would like PBX functionality on the BCM50 just like on a Meridian 1 system, so that people can discretely use an external line that is not labeled on the system, but still some phones would have buttons for lines as well).
I've seen another post asking a similar question, but I would like to not have a button for the line (but some phones I want to still have button). But, I followed the steps on that post and when I press 9 on a Norstar phone, I get a second dial tone but when I enter numbers to dial, I don't get anything back (silence and nothing happens). That post is here: I know that there is nothing wrong with the phone, because I also tested this with 15 other phones and got the same outcome.
I don't want it set up so that the phone goes to an assigned line appearance button when you press 9, I would like it to just give me the external line's dial tone without any external line appearance keys programmed to the phone (the ability to call out but external call appearance on intercom button).

Is this even possible?
Thanks

When I try to assign access code to a line pool in my system (same happens for all line pools), it seems that the system crashes because I get an error dialog that I cannot close (picture of that attached), and I can't even close Element Manager. The only way to get back into programming is to open task manager on Windows and force the task to end. No access code that I try to program will work. Every time the system crashes and I have to close it via task manager.
Also, under Dial Plan>Routing, I cannot change the absorbed length digits (which I need to change from All to 1, to get the second dial tone).

I don't know what's happening here, or if I'm doing something wrong...

RESOLVED: It turns out that if you have more than 1 line assigned to a line pool (I had lines 061, 062, 063 and 064 assigned to line pool A), the system won't let you add a line pool access code, therefore you cannot add routing/SDT rules, etc. It is sort of a 'domino effect'. If you attempt to add an access code more than 2 times, Element Manager will freeze and stop working (thus making you restart Element Manager).
Also you can't directly mimic PBX functionality with using 9 to dial out on a key system. To access the line pool by using 9 for an external line, the phone which you're accessing from needs to have the line assigned to them.
This is all just what the outcome for me with my extensive experimenting has been.

Thanks

That is not true, the system is both KEY and PBX.

Example using Pool A.
Put lines into a pool A, allow set to access pool A, either create pool code 9 under Pool A or create dest code 9 and tell it to use route 000 which in turn is told to use pool A).
Intercom 9 to dial out.

As of this:
"the system won't let you add a line pool access code, therefore you cannot add routing/SDT rules"
If you cannot add a pool code then that is because the digit is in use somewhere else.
SDT is for PRI/SIP/VoIP lines

I just looked at your picture you attached, that's a first!!

"If you cannot add a pool code then that is because the digit is in use somewhere else."
Same goes for dest codes.

Example
By default 0 is already used to call reception from another internal phone and most likely by you Auto Attendant.
1 is used by Cal Park
2, 3, is used by default for your DN's
4 is used by Hunt Groups

So 0 to 4 is tied up.

You cannot intercom 0 for reception AND make it grab a line.

Thank you very much!
You're right. I didn't think of it that you can let certain sets access pools and you don't have to assign a line directly to them.
Works!

Thanks again

By the way, I did not try assigning 0-4 as access codes. The system froze on all numbers.
Maybe just my system, but it finally let me add an access code when I assigned only 1 line to pool A. the system stopped freezing and giving me error messages then.

UPDATE:
Actually, you can have multiple lines in a line pool and have it work with pressing 9 to dial out. All I had to do to make it work was to delete the destination code! Then, everything worked fine.

Thanks but yes, its true....3 ways, the best way was to use dest codes but here they are:

External Code - I have nothing to say about this, nothing!
Pool Code - put groups of lines in their own pools (A, B, C etc) and assign a code for each pool (7, 8 or 9).
Destination Code - best option and very powerful, you can create A LOT of dest codes and with up to 12 digits long, they will use the routes which in turn can use line pools or BlocX (VIOP/PRI lines), in routes you can also input external numbers to be dialed.
Example of a normal route to get an outside line - Dest code 9 uses Route 009, Route 009 uses Pool A
Example of a normal route to get an outside line and dial a specific number - Dest code 9 uses Route 009, Route 009 dials XXX-XXXX and told to use Pool A

You cannot have the same digit do all three, that is a conflict and what you probably experienced.

To use a Dest code disable External Code (make NONE) and check the codes in each line pool and remove the digit you want to use as a Dest code.
