hello,

I'm trying to use the archive feature of the 3750 so my configs go to a tftp server. The problem is

a) all the example just save it locally
b) I would like to setup a default tftp server address like you can on the pix.

a good example of the first problem would be appreciated. thanks.

I'm not certain you can use the archive command to backup a config, but I haven't tried it. But, you can still use the copy command for it:

copy running-config tftp://<enter tftp ip here>

Solved my issue:

switch(config-archive)path tftp://1.1.1.1/CivicStack

was missing the path after the IP.

The archiving function is only available in the newst code mostly 12.4 think it might have been introduced in the 12.3T train .

After looking at the switch you are using they must have introduced it in the 12.2 train for those as the 3750's only run 12.2 trains .

I was always been a bit confused about the archive command. I discovered the two things to remember are
- Target a directory, not a file
- use / in the file path

Eg, to upgrade within a stack, I recorded this:
(I didn't record the commands I used to TFTP it off).

archive copy-sw /overwrite /destination-system 4 1
( 1 is the source system)

Then
delete /force /recursive flash4:/c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3
removed switch 4’s old config

then
reload slot 4

These are 2 different archive functions . One is for upgrading a switch via a .tar file and the other archive function is used to automatically save backups to either a flash device or tftp server.

Oh yeah - I didn't read it properly. He's talking about configs.
I always just copy those to TFTP.

Looks like he found the / is the vital ingredient, same as I did for the archive command.
