I have ACS r7 and messaging r1.

I would like to be able to setup call forwarding from outside the office for a particular extension.

Say for example it is Saturday afternoon and I'm at home I would like to be able to dial in and do a feature 11 to my extension. Is this possible ?

Normally if I was in the office I would do "feature 11 11 80"
to transfer my extension (11) to speed dial 80.

Thanks,
Steve

cant do it remotely , somebody has to push the button on the phone .

as a workaround you could take a extension that doesn't have someone assigned to it , say a conference room or kitchen and leave that forwarded to your home number .

then when you wanted to reroute your calls you could go into the auto attndent and have a selector code pointed to that extension (assuming they are accessing you with a selector code rather than dialing your ext # )

or you could go in a change your voice mail greeting to include your home phone number . then change it back when you don't want home calls

Hello, you have reached the voicemail box of MR IAMATHOME, to reach me at home press *817, to leave me a message please stay on the line.

set up an unused ext [X17]to be always transfered to your home number. You can change the greeting in your VM box from greeting one to greeting two which tells them about the option by logging into your VM box like you do to check messages. When you do not want them to be told about the transfer to home option, just activate the other greeting. Some VM may require you to re-record your greeting if they do not have multiple greetings available for your mailbox.

You may still get calls transfered to your home even when the greeting does not tell them about the option because they already know about the option. Since any call transfered to x17 will go to your home phone since it will be set up to transfer calls all the time.

hope this helps.

You could leave x17 forwarded to home, dial in to your vm on saturdays. Change your personal operator to 17. "to reach me at home dial 0."

I'm just piggy-backing on aarenot's suggestion.

1043 has a point, and I want to be really careful not to offend him. He IS a regular MVP (and currently at the top of the list)! However, our goal here is to solve the problem at hand, not suggest that the customer bought the wrong piece of hardware in the first place.

Yes, the IP Office can do this. But so can the Magix and nearly every Nortel switch out there. The Partner was designed for small offices and homes, and obviously Avaya marketing felt that the ability to activate this feature remotely wasn't appropriate for the target customer.

As for my two cents toward solving the problem: If it wasn't clear earlier, let me underscore the fact that you cannot forward a phantom station. In other words, you can't plug in a phone into an unused port, forward it, and then unplug the phone (forwarding will disappear). You will have to use a live extension somewhere in your switch.

What you'll need is a lobby, guest, conference room or other peripheral type phone that will always be forwarded. Obviously, this should be a phone that you do not expect to receive calls on. It must also be a "system" phone, not a garden-variety analog telephone.

I hope that helps, Steve.

Dag, that used to be my take on the RCF situation - however, I was proven wrong. You CAN forward a phantom extension, and you do it through centralized telephone programming to get the speed dial number into the personal speed dial. Then from another extension that also is allowed RCF, it's just Feature 11-Extension No.-Speed Dial No. And, since it's Messaging R1, I like changing the Personal Operator to the forwarded extension.

Here is the post TTT talks about.I was honored by a star from him.

What you state is true. When you forward a phone and then unplug it the forward is turned off. But you can forward any extension from another extension on the Partner. Also remember that if an ACS loses power it will turn all forwards off. So you have to make sure that if you are using that for an after hours service type forward then you will need a backup like "outcalling" or voicemail to email. Or in the messaage of the voicemail state " if this is an emergency please hang up and dial 800-555-1212.

Thanks everyone for the info. I have had the partner system for about 14 years and have been upgrading every few releases. If I was just purchasing new I would have done something with an I/P system, but this works fine for us 99.5 percent of the time. I was just trying to cover that little small percent that is missing.

Wow. That's so cool. I think I'm a pretty bright guy (and I am), but I am regularly humbled by this forum.

It's not my thread, but please let me express my thanks to TouchToneTommy and 1043 for the enlightment; it's clear that the star is deserved. I listen to these responses...believe me. I don't ever want to be the "old dog that can't learn a new trick".

And best of all, it looks like Steve has plenty of ammo toward fulfilling his needs.
