You can install the printer as a Windows printer on any of your terminals. The printer will have to have a compatable IP address. After you have the printer running through Windows assign it as a Windows printer in Aloha.
thanks.
I was hoping to avoid the windows spooler.
I have had troubles with this in the past.
I have several locations, all running exact same machines and ghosted, so same software. small receipts will print fine. anything that windows thinks is 2 pages will open the port and then hang. even 'print test page' will hang. works in 10 of our stores but does not work in another 10. ideas????
I believe you can also set this up under Maintenance -> System -> Printers. I think there is an IP field where you can enter the IP address of the printer and avoid the Windows spooler.
I do not know of any way to do this without the Windows spooler. If you have issues printing even basic documents with the Windows spooler, I think that you need to back up and fix that situation, not side-step it.
As far as I have seen, things that will jam up the spooler like you describe is either lack of system resources (RAM, Processer, etc), a corrupt driver or a mis-configured printer.
I would suggest that you look at those things first, and if all else fails, try to hack something together.
Do you need instructions on how to set up OPOS? If so, take a look at this page. There also is an OPOS manual from EPSON attached.
To download the OPOS drivers, you need to have an account on EpsonExpert. Once you have that set up, you can download the OPOS drivers from this page. Select the newest driver available and download it. Then extract the contents of the self extracting EXE to a folder on your hard drive (NOT to a temp folder). Then run the installer and follow the instructions in the EPSON OPOS manual.
