Can anyone give me a step by step guide on setting up a vpn using Windows Server 2003. Im using this at home the server is behind my router, if that matters. Thanks.

need to provide more about your environment:

Is RRAS server workgroup or domain member?
What type of vpn will you attempt to establish (PPTP or L2TP)?

its a very simple process, but can vary depending on the first two questions above...

RRAS and I would like to setup a L2TP vpn. Thank you very much.

So how far have you got?

Have you followed the guides on the MS website?

Are you experiencing any problems?

Are you using a static IP?

Workgroup or Domain?

Have you tried running a search on Tek-tips for the solution?

I have started completely over but before I did I got a laptop to connect over PPTP but I couldn't access any of the computers on the network except for the server.

Ok yesterday I got my laptop connected and I can get online throu the server and could see the shared files on the server. I can see the other computers but when I try to access them it says I may not be authorized and to contact the admin. and I can't figure out what to do next.

not authorized to logon from this station error right?

see this article:

although it is written for win2k, it still applies to 2k3.

No sorry I wrote that when i was away from the computer. It actully says \\Amd is not accessable. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.
