I need to set up a NTP server on my s8730. Currently my time is off by just over 6 minutes. I read a post that said adding the NTP is not service affecting. I thought I would have to reboot after making the change, can someone clarify the procedure I should follow when adding the NTP server, please.

Thanks in advance! [bigears]

launch the "maint. web interface"
click on "configure server" (under "Server Configuation")
click on "continue", and "continue", and "continue" yet again...(ignore all of the warnings etc you see)
click on "configure individual services"
click on "configure time server"

highlight "use these network time server"
fill in at least one, I use 192.43.244.18 (time.nist.gov)
you can use the DNS name, if you have DNS entries that work, otherwise use the actual IP address

click on "change", that's it.

to test, in the main web interface, click on "Network Time Sync" under "Diagnostics"

You didn't say what version of CM you have, but for certain versions of CM4.0.4 and CM 5.1.2 you need the most recent service pack, for the NTP to be visible on the diagnostic screen

Thanks so much Mitch. I am running a 4.0.4 so I totally appreciate the heads up on the service pack!.....

You did not mention any thing about rebooting so I don't have to do that after setting up the NTP server, correct.

no, you don't need to reboot, but you will have to setup the NTP on both servers (at least I would, since either one of them could become the active server)
