Is there a way to setup Notes Client for a new user on a PC without first having to uninstall the Notes Client?

The Notes Client on the current PC has already been setup for a particular person but has since resigned.

check previous postings in this forum - not sure exactly where, but i know ive seen some good tips for it

there's a couple of databases on the client you want to remove, plus a couple of other files.

remove: names.nsf, bookmark.nsf, userreg.nsf, log.nsf, busytime.nsf, domadmin.nsf, headline.nsf, perweb.nsf, journal.nsf, cache.dsk and desktop5.dsk

make sure you don't remove the files with the same names but with the .ntf extension.

next open notes.ini and remove everything below the line that starts with WinNTIconPath=

start the client and you'll see the default configuration wizard just like after a clean installation.

To reconfigure a Lotus Notes client for a new user use the following procedure:

1. Copy the new users ID file into the c:\lotus\notes\data directory
2. Start Lotus Notes
3. When prompted for password, click cancel
4. A box asking for the location of an alternative ID file will appear. Enter the path to the new ID file
5. Enter the password
6. Select File | Preferences | Location menu option to call up the Office (Network) location preferences.
7. Change the Internet mail address name to reflect the new user
8. On the mail tab, change the mail file to be the new users mail file
9. On the advanced tab, enter the full path to the user ID file (i.e. c:\lotus\notes\data\blahb.id) in the “User ID to switch to” option.
10. Save and close the location preferences
11. Open the new users database file using the File | Database | Open menu option
12. Select the address book
13. Select the File | Database | Properties menu option. Enter the new users name in the “Title” field.
14. Exit Lotus Notes.

Notes should now be configured correctly for the new user.
