When setting up nlb in windows 2003 for streaming media is it best to use disk mirroring or something like raid 3?

any tips please?

RAID 5 is best as it will allow read ahead on a different physical disk.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thanks for that. Is it possible to use a storage array for streaming media or best to stick with pysical disks?

Depending on the hardware you might get the same performance. Really depends on the disk speed.

I've decide to go with 2 servers with raid 5 and use windows NLB. Do you know if i can use the product double take as well as nlb on the same set of servers.
Becuase if i loose node 1 i want node 2 to take over all the streams and continue to run the applications.

I am unfamiliar with that product sorry.

Just want to make sure you are fully aware that NLB is useful for ensuring your users always have access to the content, but it does not do application monitoring. You would need clustering set up for that.

I hope you find this post helpful.

No problem.
Yes i'm aware that nlb is splitting the load between the 2 nodes and that if node 1 dies node 2 will take over all the work.
The problem i have is making sure that all the applications and files are loaded onto both nodes. That's why i was looking for some software to copy from node 1 to node 2.
