hi

i've just done my first openbsd install. everything went fine until it tried to detect my network card, which as detected as `ne1 (manual)'. Well the problem is that i keep getting messages like `device timeout' or something (sorry, i'm not near the box right now for the exact message). ifconfig -a shows ne1 up and running, but netstat shows nothing... What am i missing?

thanks

Hi

It's tough to help you without knowing the exact problem you're having. =(

Can you provide more information on what it is you're having trouble with? internet browsing? pinging other computers on the network?

For starters, check /etc/mygate to make sure you have your default gateway defined. ---
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

I've ran into this problem before. This can be an IRQ issue or a driver issue.
Can you give me a better description of the nic? mfr, interface, chipset.

I've had a lot of problems with ne cards in openbsd, specifically ISA cards (IRQ and address problems). what is in your /etc/hostname.ne1 file? Normally I think it should see it as ne0 unless there are 2 ne cards. Can you try swapping it with a PCI card? Realtek chipset cards work well as well as 3com cards. ----------------------------------------
