Hi,

You will need to install RAS (Remote Access Server). Then grant your user account dial in permissions. This will allow you to collect mail etc. If you want to completely remote control the machine try a freeware product called VNC, this will allow you to control the server as if it was sat in front of you.

Hope this helps

Kindly let me know how I can get access to this free ware product(VNC) which website ? Thanx.

Secondly I have installed RAS on the server and actually verified that this service is running, I have given Dial in Permission to all users , But when I try to dial from my work station The message I get is " You have been disconnected from the Computer You Dialed ", What Could I be missing.

I'm using different phone lines and the Sever modem light seems to blink when I dial indicating that the communication signal is recieved from my work station to the server.

It is this same work station that I connect to My ISP, so I dont think its configuration has any problems. I have checked All protocols TCP/IP, NetBui and IPX are installed on both the Server and work station

Thanx.

I am running a PDC Nt server 4.0.
I have made attempts to set that machine up as a RAS server.
everything is properly configured including external modem, however the RAS server service fails to startup. I get an error 1066. I have tried researching it, however I couldn't come up with anything. can anyone help?
Thanks

My RAS Service also behaved like that even when I set it to Automatic at start up in the Services control control panal it would not start and woul give an error which I could view in the Event Viewer. What I did was to remove the Remote Access Service using the Services tab of the Network control panel. and then re installed it using the Add button of the services tab in the same region . Try that option please.
