Setting up LS lines with 3300cxi 2

I'm the rawest of Mitel newbies, so apologies if this is a blindingly obvious question.

I have a 3300cxi with 2 5340s and a Navigator. Extension-to-extension calling works great. I plugged an existing analog line into the LS1 port on the ASU, and when I dial "9" on a handset I can place an analog call.

Q1: when I do this, the handset shows "ANALOG" instead of the dialed number. Is there a way to fix this?

Q2: I want to program the 3300 so that when an analog line rings, all handsets ring and any handset can pick it up. How do I do this?

Q1: Blank out the "Label" field in the Trunk Service assignment that the analog trunk is using

Q2: There's several different ways to do this. Personally, I think the easiest way would be to set up a key system line appearance on each phone, and set that line as the answer point in the Trunk Service Asssignment for the trunk.

Thanks for the Q1 answer, Lundah-- I found the trunk label and experimented with changing it, but didn't think of blanking it.

For Q2, will this work to allow either of two analog lines to ring all handsets? The simplest acceptable functionality is for 1 line to ring 1 handset; that way I can test Exchange 2007 unified messaging at my desk set. If possible, I'd like 2 analog lines to ring 1 handset; best of all would be all lines ringing all handsets. Where do I set up the key system line appearances?

Any trunk assigned a specific trunk service assignment will use the same answer point defined for that trunk service number. If you have more than one trunk using the same trunk service number, then your answer point should be a hunt group or multicall instead of a single line or key system DN.

In your case, set up a hunt group, give it a number, doesn't really matter what it is, as long as it doesn't conflict with something else. Then create keys on a phone for each trunk (Multiline set key assignment), and again, just assign them an arbitrary number (but keep them squential, like 1051, 1052, etc.). Do the same on each additional phone, but on the 2nd, 3rd, etc., set the line type to "key system". Then add those lines to the hunt group you created, and now you have a seperate key for each trunk.

Oh, forgot to mention that for the solution above to work, you have to set the trunk service assingment's answer point to be the number of the hunt group you created.

Alternative answer for Q1.

COS Option Display Outgoing Digits on outcall will retain the dialed digits instead of showing the TrunK Service Assignment Name.

For Q2 - I prefer Lundah's answer especially if voicemail might be involved with the call. With VM involved you can reroute the huntgroup Pilot on No answer or at night to VM and All trunks will integrate thru the same mailbox (assoc with Pilot) Teminating each trunk to different keylines will require separate mailboxes for each.

I didn't even think about the COS option; though IIRC, doesn't that have a timer associated with it?

OK, so let me make sure I understand this. My handsets are extensions 5001, 5002, and 5003. My analog lines are xxx-xxx-8305 and xxx-xxx-8308.

1. I created a circular hunt group, 5000, using day and night COS 1.
2. I modified trunk service assignment for trunk 9 (the 8308 LS line) to have a non-dial-in answer point of 5000.
3. On the multiline key set assignment, I assigned handset 5001 button 2 to be label 8308, type key system, ring type ring, button DN 5308.

Now I have a new button on the handset labeled "8308". When I placed an incoming call from my cell phone to xxx-xxx-8308, my conventional wired phone would ring, but the deskset connected to the 3300 wouldn't.

I then went back and modified the trunk service assignment answer point to be 5308, vice 5000. That did the trick.

So, if I understand this right, if I want to add xxx-xxx-8305 to my handset, I need to
- add it as an additional LS trunk
- create a trunk service assignment for it, setting the answer point to (say) 5305
- add it as a key on handset 1.

So maybe I understand that much, at least. Thanks to Lundah and kwbMitel for the help so far.

Instead of changing the answer point for the line, add 5308 as a member of HG 5000. Do the same for the non-prime lines you create for the additional trunks. This way, you can use the same Trunk Service number for all of the trunks, assuming you want them to all act the same way. Also, if you need your 8308 line to ring at more than one phone, make sure to assign it as Key System instead of Multicall so you can see when the line is in use.
