I've been playing about with my setup below but cannot get any reliable connectivity between my lan machines and the net. Would anybody be able to advice me on setting up my networt properly?

1 x W2K Server, IIS, Exchange Server 2000
1 x 2600wi
1 x Desktop PC
1 x Laptop
1 x BTBroadband with dynamic ip
1 x domain registered with ZoneEdit which points to my dynamic ip

Should my server have enabled DNS, DHCP, WINS etc or should the router take care of the DNS and DHCP.

I would also like to host my own websites and mail server (not ideal on the same box I know but it ill have to do for now)

Oh I see. Could my AD be working OK because I'm using the external DNS service by ZoneEdit.com?

well not really ok....you dont need reverse zones to pass on data to forward zones (your ISP).

what kind of system is your dekstop PC that is trying to communicate? if its win9x/ME/or NT3 or 4 youll have to isntall WINS for hostname resolution...or install DCHP and allow it to give all the info....but in your case DHCP isnt necessary because it wont be a burden to change the settign on two systems...
if you're going to host your website, etc. on your server....you better fix DNS and point your DNS servers at zoneedit to your internal DNS server, to allow that to handle resolution.
