Setting up Controlled Class of Service on an 81C

Hey gang,
How difficult would it be to set up a phone with CCOS? We have an 81C and would like to block calls whenever this EXT is unsupervised. We can't block by time of day because the ext is in use by Managers sporadically at all times. The second he leaves It's party time.

To my understanding, the Manager would call the Operator(2250) and ask to turn this phone off when he leaves, then on when he returns.

Is there another feature that would help me??

Thanks,
Signed:
Tired of paying for calls to every 3 world country..............

Why not bump his NCOS down to 1 and give him an auth code for his long distance?

Controlled Class of Service (CCOS) alters the Class of Service restriction levels on telephones that have been defined as CCOS controlled telephones. While CCOS is active, Exchange line calls made from these telephones cannot be completed without first being routed through an attendant. Meridian 1 proprietary telephones designated as CCOS controlling telephones are assigned a CCOS key that is used to activate or cancel the system-defined CCOS restriction level on individual DNs.

Operating parameters

Controlling telephones can be any Meridian 1 proprietary (digital) telephone. CCOS controlling telephones must refer to the Prime Directory Number key 0(PDN) when activating or cancelling CCOS on other telephones. Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) agents cannot be restricted by CCOS.

Enhanced Controlled Class Of Service

There is an enhancement to this service Known as Controlled Class of Service Enhanced (ECCS). This allows some flexibility in the restrictions you can apply to controlled sets. By responding to an additional set of prompts in LD 15 (ECCS1 and ECCS2) two different restriction levels can be configured. If your System is equipped to use ECCS the Operators console can also be set up to implement the Controlled Class Of Service facility

Feature implementation

Define the Class of Service restrictions for the system.

ECC2 xxx Enhanced Controlled Class of Service, Level 2 xxx = (UNR), CTD, CUN, FRE, FR1, FR2, SRE, TLD.

These restrictions apply only when CCSA is active. When CCSA is inactive, the telephone reverts back to its own individual settings

As was mentioned above, with ECCS, the operator console can be configured to control this facility.

LD 12
Assign ECCS keys for Attendant Console.

REQ CHG Change
TYPE ATT 2250 Console type.
TN xx Terminal Number.

Feature operation

To activate Enhanced Controlled Class of Service (ECCS) from a Meridian digital telephone with the feature currently inactive, follow these steps:
1 Press CCOS to begin the activation sequence.
Note that this is a toggle: if CCOS is already active, pressing the key will change the CCOS state to inactive. Check the CCOS lamp to determine if CCOS is already active.
2 Dial the PDN of the telephone to be changed and press CCOS. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 0 (zero).
3 To select ECC1, dial # 1.
Note that the octothorpe (#) is required. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 1.

To select ECC2, dial # 2.
Note that the octothorpe (#) is required. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 2.

4 Press RLS.

How do I set up the Auth codes?? Are there any package dependancies that would preven me from doing this??

Thank you DNC for the option...............

Authorisation Codes

This feature gives the user the ability to take their 'personal telephone restrictions ' (or allowances) to any telephone on their system. This would be used to allow a higher level of access from an extension that is normally barred.

To use the feature; A flexible feature code must be dialled (normally *21 as default), the user then dials their 'personal Authorisation code', dial tone is returned and the user can use the telephone as normal. The access level is limited to that of the NCOS, TGAR and CLS programmed against the personal code.

Implementation is in two parts.

· Defining the level of access - Type AUB
· Defining the 'personal code' - Type AUT

BRST 0-(10) Number of initial bursts of tone to be given

COS aaa Class of service for this CLAS
TGAR XX Trunk Group Access Restriction for this CLASS
NCOS XX Network Class of Service for this CLASS
CLAS <CR> Next CLAS you may wish to set up <cr> = carriage return
AUTO YES/NO Automatically Generate Authorisation codes

When a user dials their Authorisation code the meridian looks up the "CLAS" allocated in the AUT Block to this number and then checks the COS (or CLS of TLD, UNR, FRE etc), the TGAR & NCOS allocated on the AUB Block. It then assigns this level of service for the duration of the call.

What DNC16 said works well. i work in the hotel industry and we have all phones in the building setup that way (except guest rooms. Just remember to change the active codes somewhat often.
