Could someone please help me set up a PC to use for maint. and management on the switch. We have the 8700 servers. I do not want to manage through our network, I would prefer to have direct access in case of network failure.

I was not sure how to go about this and what ports to use etc.

Thanks in advance

Use Eth1 Service Port on the back with a cross over cable, and set your machine to 192.11.13.5 and access the switch at 192.11.13.6...

Thanks,

Ok I will try this thank you...Also what settings do I input into ASA, or is there a how to guide on this?

There is a guide.
Click on HELP in ASA and then select "CM Admin guide".

This will open a pdf file and then check page 25 - Accessing the Avaya S8xxx Directly.

Computer connected to the Active Server out of the pair with x-over to services port. Static address 192.11.13.5...set up ASA by adding new system. For your host address put 192.11.13.6. Then it's your choice as to how you login...Manual/Auto

You're under way at this point.
