Setting up Active Directory with Unix Bind DNS

Okay this is a good one. I am trying to install AD on a second server so I have redundant DC's in my environment. I have two win2k servers (one is emulating the PDC and one is just a stand alone memeber server...it used to be a BDC but when I upgraded it to WIN2K I couldn't install AD for some reason) and i have one Winnt 4.0 BDC. I was able to upgrade the domain to a WIN2K AD domain by copying the netlogon.dns file and importing it into our bind server. This is the wierd part. I am not able to install AD on the second server that is also a WIN2K server. I get to the part where it is acting like it is setting up AD and then it fails and says "the operation failed because:
Failed finding a suitable domain controller for the domain XXXXX.XXX.edu (the x's are in place of my actual domain name)
"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

I have searched through microsoft's knowledge base till I am blue in the face and nothing. They have some stuff on global catalog servers and such and also some other stuff but it all pertains to running their DNS system (go figure). Our BIND DNS server does not allow dynamic updates but I didn't think I needed this since I run a AD domain that I already configured with about 200 workstations. To add a second DC with AD do I have to have dynamic update? Doesn't seem I should. I should just be able to copy the netlogon.dns for the new dc to our table again and it should function but I can't get it installed HELP!!!!!

My DNS settings are correct on the NIC for this machine.

HELP!!! PLEASE!!! heh heh...this stinks

Instead of trying to use MS directions, use unix directions.

Thanks for the tip. I am still having problems though. Go figure microsoft. I cannot add another domain controller. Everything is set up correctly (at least as far as I can tell) on the DNS end.

Does anyone else have experience with this problem?
