Setting up a secure server

I need to set up a secure directory on my server... I'm most definitely NOT an administrator, (I just play one on TV) so please be patient.... Anyways, I'm somewhat lost as far as how to set this thing up, and have a couple of questions...<br>
<br>
1.) How do I tell IIS that the directory is secure?<br>
<br>
2.) How do I set up the digital certificate? (actually, how do I get one????)<br>
<br>
3.) Once it is set up, Do I need to make sure that links to these pages are prefixed by https? Or is this detected by the browser???<br>

they should have instructions on there on obtaining a digital certificate and how to install it. <br>
you need to put the extra 's' in the links to tell the browsers to use SSL port.

for a little less money (although they were recently purchased by Verisign so who knows how long the better price will last). Thawte also provide links to installation instructions for various server platforms from their site.

Thanks guys... I set it up with verisign. The instructions they gave on the site led me right through the process...
