We use Goldmine 6.6 running on SQL. Right now the Goldmine directory is located on the SQL server.

I have another SQL server setup for backup. I have a copy of the Goldmine directory on the new server. I restored my Goldmine SQL backup to the new SQL. I used the BDE administrator to point Goldmine to the new server. When I try and log in on the new server it takes my username and password then prompts me for a SQL login like this.

then this

Here is my BDE admin setup

Whats wrong?

On the original server the user dbo has a login name of sa. Goldmine uses the sa user for access to SQL.

On the backup server the dbo is there with no username. If I try and add the sa user I get an error 15405: cannot use the reserved user or role name sa

Sounds like that is your problem, then

Either add a user to the backup version and use that user and login, or find the one that it is using by default

I cant add the sa user to the backup and cant remove the existing dbo from the backup either.

Is there some way to copy the whole SQL database over to the backup server with all the users and permissions intact?
I tried the copy database wizard for the Goldmine database but that didnt help.

You're getting into a position where you really need a SQL expert to help you

Can you contact your GM VAR, or is that not an option?

The one that is using sa for the default login -- Change that. Create a new login in SQL Server for both databases. Create a master user in GM and set the default database to your production database with the same login info. When you configure ODBC settings (system DSN) use the SQL Server authentication that you just created, not NT. Do this for both sql database In the new user Properties dialog under the Access tab put that login info at the bottom. Do the same for your other GM database in SQL server. In your user preferences under the logins tab set the default login user to the new username. This should enable what you are trying to do.
