I am fairly new to IP Office and have been getting to grips with the system for the last 6 months. I cannot afford the Avaya course so I was hoping someone could help with the basics of setting up a h323 extension with a 9620 handset. This is also the first time I have set up an ip handset so any detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Currently I have an Avaya control unit, with an IP endpoint licence and a 9620 in front of me. The system is connected to a netgear router and the system has been placed on the network.

The 9620 currently says press * to program but if I connect it to the router it says waiting for LLDP.

Any help will be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance,

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
You are right, forgot about that one :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Goood thing that I was here to remind you :)

Funny though as we do Cisco routers and sometimes program DHCP on it :)

jimbo1007, auto create extn doesn't create one on the system then gives it to the handset, it's the other way around. When the handset registers to the system it will either ask for an extn and whatever you type will be auto created, or if the handset has previously had an extn it will make the system create that one. So if it has a ridiculously long extn it's whatever you entered into the phone whilst trying to make it work or whoever had it before you did, it isn't the system making up the number :)

Oh I see, they were refurbed 9620s so thanks for clearing that up.
Its Friday afternoon and I would love to not have to return to this issue on Monday so if anyone could please shed some light on how the customer can get this ringing after plugging it into their home router I would be extremely grateful.

From this point it's the same as the 1600's you have worked with in the past. So give it a valid extn and user and log it in with that.....job done :-

..shed some light on how the customer can get this ringing after plugging it into their home router I would be extremely grateful" combined with "..there is no router to router VPN in place". This is something not to be attempted unless you REALLY know what you are doing. If you do this wrong, you could be leaving the IP Office open to being hacked.

Ah, I missed the home router part...yes, you are going to need help with that, not from here :)
