Hi,

I've got a 9621 knocking about that I'm trying to set up, but I can't seem to get it to download the required files from the IPO. I've set the HTTP and TFTP server IP addresses to the IP of the Avaya, and the phone file server type is set to customer, however every time I boot the phone I can see it's trying to talk to my PC to get the files.

I'm running 9.0.2.0 and understand the IPO should now be able to act as the HTTP server, which wasn't possible on prior releases.

Is there something I'm missing?

Cheers,

Dave.

Set the phone file server type to the memory card.
Customer is a custom file server.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks Peter.

I just tried that, but the phone is still looking at the IP of my PC for the HTTP server.

Change the file server address in the system programming then, I imagine you have your PC's IP address assigned in there (or in the handset) :)

What is used as the DHCP server? Are you sure the IPO is doing this?

Can you try to put your laptop in the same subnet, check if the laptop receives an IP address from the IPO?

Then, using a webserver go to address Check if you can see the 46xxsettings file now ( xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = IPO IP address)

I can't see an option for file server address, only file writer IP address, is that what you're referring to? HTTP, TFTP and Manager PC address are all set to the IP of the Avaya.

Okkie - DHCP is just set to dial in, so I guess that needs changing? The odd thing is, the phone has picked up an IP and default gateway anyway. I may have set this manually months back when I had a quick look at this, but I can't be sure. Is there a way to reset the phone so it has to get these details again?

You need to statically assign the file server address in your phone, the DHCP server will not do this for you (it can but you haven't set this up) :)

So you are using the DHCP server of the gateway or customers DHCP server. That way you will miss vital information as the IP Office IP address and File server IP address.

You could add an option 242 to the customers DHCP server. Google for it and you will find the infoermation about this.

My advice, add a voice VLAN in the switch. Then set one port on the switch to untagged in that voice vlan and connect the IP Office to that port.

Set the DHCP of the IP office to server.

This is a test phone I'm trying to set up in the office. There's no DHCP server connected to the switch, so no need for overcomplicating by adding VLANs for a single IP phone.

How do I manually configure the phone? There's an option to press * to program when it boots, but this takes me to craft procedures, which doesn't seem to include IP settings. I must have managed this before, as the phone has an IP, default gateway and an IP address for the call server, which it can't have picked up automatically.

Hi Dave
It may be simpler to just give your maintenance partner (me) a call & we can go over it with you :)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
