good morning. i have about sixty winnt and win2003 servers that need to have the net_buffer_sz set or modified. the pc group has recently installed altiris but are not sure how i could add or modify the net_buffer_sz file.
any ideas other then the obvious?

thanks. dave..

what value do you want it set to?
256K is the default

NET_BUFFER_SZ
Note the NET_BUFFER_SZ value is the size of the buffer on the media server which receives data from the client server. The NET_BUFFER_SZ is set on the media server by creating the NET_BUFFER_SZ file in the <INSTALL_PATH>\NetBackup directory. The value in the file needs to be a multiple of 1024. If the file is not present, the default value of 262144 (or 256K) is being used. If the file is created for tuning purposes, be sure the file has no extensions.

Just because the VERITAS documentation states something as certain, that does not make it a fact and that is truth.

under the host properties, window clients, would the parameter "communication buffers" be the same as "net_buffer_sz"?

dave..
