hi,
i'm a beginner in linux. i have some problem when i have installed my linux mandrake, that system cannot load 'artsd' and couldn't detect my soundcard (creative live entertanment). how can i set my soundcard or are there drivers that i must download. that's all hopefully there's someone can help me. thanx.GBU
 
Have you tried recompiling the kernel with support for that soundcard? John D. Saucier

Don't know much about mandrake, don't like it! :)

However try 'modprobe emu10k1' if the module is available this will kick it off for your soundcard (and put this in your startup). If this isn't available you will have to recompile your kernel with emu10k1 as a module or built-in.
