Setting default Word version

I have 3 versions of Word on my terminal servers and want to set word 2000 as the default version for opening .doc files. I know you can use winword /r but this sets the default to word 97. Is there the same thing for Word 2000? have tried using the file types to do this but it gives me an error each time (file or path invalid) before it then opens the files.

Hi swaughman! You might have better luck posting this in the windows 2003 server forum.

I'm not sure how to do this but someone there almost surely is.

What OS are you using? For Windows 2000...

Go to Windows Explore and select Tools > Folder Options from the menu bar. Select the File Types tab and scroll through the list until you see the DOC file extension. Select it and choose the "Change" button below. Select the version of Word you want to use to open that type of flle or if it is not on the list choose the "Other" button and browse to the appropriate WINWORD.EXE for the version of Word you want to use.

For Word XP the path is c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\Winword.exe so for Word 2000 it might be under Office 9. Good luck.

I have done the file association bit and this is where my errors pop up, although clicking on OK then opens the file.
