We are using Small Business Server 2003 and I have setup Exchange Server so it checks for all pop3 mail and forwards it to the relevant user. I have removed the email settings from Outlook for these email addresses so as not to duplicate the work on the client pc's and all works fine.

My only problem is that the only email users can send with now is the one setup by default by Exhange, which is the login name for each user. ie. user@domain.co.uk. I can't see any way to change it to send an email using any of the other pop3 email addresses collected by Exchange. This only applies to new emails not those being replied to, which reply using the relevant email account..

Is there a way to set one of these other email accounts, either in Outlook on the client pc, or within Exchange on the server, so that it is the default one for sending new emails??

I've never had to use Exchange Server before and I am having to learn pretty quickly, so I apologise for my somewhat basic question...

in the properties of the account, use the "e-mail addresses" tab, this lists all e-mail addressess assigned to that user, click on the one you want to use a the main address and click on the "set as primary" button

But if I add back the email account in Outlook on the client pc, won't that mean that I don't need to have the same email address in Exchange Server as a pop3 email?

you dont add it to the client machine, sry didnt specify...........

on the server, look at the users properties, there will be four tabs for exchange properties, one of them is e-mail addresses, all the address listed on there are being sent to the user, one of them in bold, this is the primary address, all e-mail will go out as this primary address, if you want to send out as a different address, you will have to select another address and make it the primary, or add the other address here and then make it primary, must be a domain that the server handles.......(all done on the server side)

That's worked a treat.. Thanks for the help..
