can anyone suggest a method or KB article to set up two DHCP servers on a windows 2003 domain to provide redundency. What happens with the scopes and reservations?

many thanks

John

Just split the addresses between the two. For example:

Your network is 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

Server A address pool: 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.127
Server B address pool: 192.168.1.128 - 192.168.1.254

When the clients request an address, both servers will respond. The client will accept the first address it receives and send an ack to the server. The second server will not receive an ack and will not assign an address.

great thanks. Do i have to sepcify the reservations in both servers?

I have implemented this and am getting duplicate leases. See my post
I have configured the scopes with in a 80% / 20% so that they are not overlapping.

Unless I am missing something you cannot really run two DHCP Servers without duplicate lease issues.
