set up d-channel and TMDI card

Hey guys,
I've never had to do this before and my vendor is reluctant on telling me what to do saying that is quite "complex" (but i know it's for job security reasons he doesnt want to tell me). I doubt that as I have seen bits and pieces of the set up when they are onsite doing it.
Trying to save the company some money and score some brownie points with the boss.
So here is what i am trying to do, would someone be able to give me the steps of what i need to do in each LD ?

I have a new point to point ISDN t1 tie installed. I have one end hooked up to a CISCO 2800 which is all good. The other end needs to be hooked up to an Option 11. I have a spare TMDI card that is not up yet (red lights are on).

I have already PRT'ed the config of a similiar TIE line at another site so i know what protocol,coding, and clocking to use.

Any help please?

that tmdi has a dch daughter borad? then go to ld 17, change adan, then new dch x, 90 percent of the defaults work, ctyp is msdl, card is the slot, port 1 parm os rs422 drat is 64k. clock is ext.. rcap COLP NDI CCBI CCNI PRI DV3I CTI QMWI, ifc would be isgf. side will be net, once that is complete, ld 16 to build a new rdb, ld 14 to build the trunks (new 23)then 96 enl msdl x enl msdl x fdl, ld 60 enll x. dch should est in about 30 sec.. if you bring it up to a loop back for testing, it will come up then rls wronge mode..

I thought a TMDI has an onboard D channel and not a daughter board. I also thought thre card type would be TMDI
 
you are correct the TMDI card has a onboard DCH the only daughter board is a Clock card. The card type is TMDI

also, any risk i can screw up my working PRI at all? Should be safe enough doing this during business hours if all im doing is creating the new D channel, build new rdb, build the B's?

I also checked my card type, they are TMDI, so do i still have to LD96 enl msdl x enl msdl x fdl?

no risk to service interuption as long as you don't yank the card out without disabling it first, otherwise the PBX will INI.

to enable the card and download the protocol to it, go to ld 96 and enl tmdi x (x is the tmdi card) fdl, wait for the ok, then go to ld 60 and enll l (l is the loop number) and sit back and wait, if all is working properly, the dch will come up and establish, if the dch is in loopback, it will show rls wrong mode.
 
you also need to check prior to backing out the tmdi to be sure that IF it has any daughter boards (clock-dch), they are both diasbled.. if either is active, she will boot.

you also need to make sure it's not bdch on any rdb.. primary or backup d is the only two places that i can think of where a d is ref in the db

sorry, just makes me nervous because this is where all the big wigs are, any other building and i'd do it without a second thought.

[This reply is based on the assumption you are using a "option 11" and not a CS1000E system]

One of the things that johnpoole is trying to find out is whether the TMDI card that has RED lights on it is already programmed in the Option 11 or not. If you know this TMDI card has not been programmed, you can go ahead with building the PRI, the DCHN, then the RDB, then the TRUNKS. This is all predicated on the fact that you have this TMDI card in an Option 11 cabinet that ALREADY has a Clock Controller programmed and running (if you already have an existing PRI in the same cabinet, you should be good to go for clocking).

Just remember, whenever you are working on any TMDI card, you will have 3 or 4 things that you need to shutdown, before removing the card:

1. TDMI X (same as loop number)
2. DCHN X (whatever dch is assigned to that loop)
3. LOOP X (self explanatory)
4. CC X (usually 0, but only if your clocking is on the TMDI card you are working on).

Just for giggles, go to LD 60 and type in: ssck 0

It should come back with something like:

CLOCK CONTROLLER - LOCKED TO SLOT 1
PREF - 1
SREF -
AUTO SWREF CLK - ENBL

Where it says PREF - 1 is telling you that your clocking is already assigned to come off of loop 1. You can also go to LD 73 and prt your DDB. When you see CLKN, that also will tell you what slot your clock is assigned to.
 
What Protocal are you using between the Cisco & Option? Normally if that don't match you will get the wrong mode error.

The nortel admin guide says "enter 0 if you are not using CDNO to keep trackof SDI ports and cards". from above, i did that but get SCH0582.

one other thing to note is i am following the exact same config on a tie line at another site and, this site doesnt even say anything about CDNO:

Yes, i assumed that and entered 2, as that is where the redlight TMDI is at. But i get SCH4760 DCHL, BCHL or PRI loop is not defined.
