Hi all,

I am having a hard time here,
I digged up an old LX controller from my stock and i need to change its E2T IP address to match the range i will be using on my network.
I dont know the old IP address of the E2T,i dont have a ps2 cable to connect to the E2T.
I tried a telnet session on port 2002, logged in using the RTC IP Adress and using the "bootChange" command i can only change the actual boot process of the RTC itself.. but nothing i can do for the E2T.
I also tried to change the flag(f) in the "bootChange" command from 0x0 to 0x40..
I think i am mixing stuff together..
What is the actual way for changing the IP address of the E2T via telnet session or if there is any other way to do that.

Thanks in advance

First you want to verify if the E2T address is being assigned by DHCP or if it's a static assignment. Check your DHCP Static IP programming (assuming you're using the 3300 as the DHCP server), also check DHCP Lease Viewer and see if you find a MAC address that matches the E2T Mac labeled on the chassis (should be on the back near the ground lug). If it's assigned via DHCP, then just change your static address there and reboot the controller, the E2T should pick up the new address on the restart.

I have the MAC Adress of E2T, but the IP Address does not show in either the ip configuration form or on the DHCP lease viewer.
My problem is that the E2T card was assigned to an ip address that i dont know and i need to reset the E2T so that i can assign new IP Adress to it.
The Controller is unable to find the E2T card, even in the System Hardware Profile form the E2T is shown as not responding.

Thanks

Without knowing what IP the E2T is currently using, you're kind of boned. You could check the ARP table of the 3300 (RTC shell command "arptabShow"), and then try to use Secure Telnet or puTTY in "RAW" mode to telnet to port 2002 of that IP and you could change it, but saving that, you'll need to dig up/make an E2T cable and connect to it that way.

Thanks for you replies
I will try what you have mentioned, just another question,
i am thinking of making a homemade E2T cable, do i still need to know the current E2T IP address when connecting via Cable ??

Thank you

Nope, the E2T Debig cable (there's a guide in the FAQ section of this very board on how to make one) is a direct serial connection to the E2T processor, just like the "Maintanance" port is to the RTC.

Just tried the "arptabShow" you mentioned above, it only shows the ip address of my computer and the one of the RTC itselfe.

ok so i guess my only solution is making my own E2T cable, will try that and let you know

Many thanks

The plug is under a 1" chrome cap near the edge of the underside of the controller.

I usually just insert the wires directly instead of trying to find the appropriate plug.

If you do this remember to reverse the wiring from the diagram on the plug end.

Use Putty to connect to the RTC's IP address using "RAW" port 2007 - this gets you connected to the E2T.

Next using a Direct Serial Connection to the RTC Maintenance port, or another instance of Putty to the RTC Shell (port 2002).

From there use the command ToggleCpu 1. Then go back to your 2007 session and stop the boot process, you will have to press the space bar 3-times AND press Enter.
From there, you can set the static settings to the E2T. Use the tech handbook for guidance on what needs to go in each field.

Mark - Port 2007 does not work with an LX

Thank you, Kwbmitel I found the plug on the back side of the controller, so if I understood you well, I can actually just insert the wires to the controller plug without this "8 pins" mini din male connector?

Yes, 26ga wires work quite well.

I've done this quite a number of times.

Coincedently, this need is what led me to this site back in 2005

The connector for the E2T cable is under a chrome cap about 1in in diameter nearest the side of the bottom of the controller

I didn't bother to try and find the correct end. 26ga wire can be inserted in the plug quite easily. Remember to reverse the orientation from the cable diagram

Sorry for the duplicate message
Bad wifi in my area blocked my first post until now
