Can someone confirm or refute the following:

- IP Handset 9608 firmware 6.2.0.13
- IP office on 8.0.42 (or 7.0.31(!))
- Default Audio Path -> Headset
- Option in 46xxsettings.txt:
#################### AUDIO SETTINGS ######################
## Headset Operational Mode
## Controls whether the headset ignores a disconnect
## message.
##
## A value of 0 or 2 makes the headset go on-hook when it
## receives a disconnect message.
## A value of 1 or 3 makes the headset ignore a disconnect
## message.
##
SET HEADSYS 0
##
- Set up a call from or to the 9608 handset and disconnect via 'drop'
or disconnect by 'other' party.
- HEADSET button stays lit. Call has disconnected, but the 'headset' port
doesnt go on-hook causing static noise in the headsets...

This 'used' to work correctly on the 6.1.38 firmware for 9608
I can recreate this on my DEMO-kit in 2 minutes, however Avaya didnt.

Any ideas?

I never used it but when you can recreate it then i think Avaya can too.
But you could try to replace the complete file with a working one.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

That's just it.
I use the same setting file and only upgrade the ip handset firmware.

The problem with these sets is that the amplifier circuit is 'cheap', causing
white noise on headsets when idle but not on-hook.

Denny, leave it out of headset mode and just change the default audio path to headset in the phone menu, to answer/make a call just press the appearence key and only then does the circuit activate. I had the same white noise issue on 16xx/14xx's and this solved it quite nicely :)

@amriddle,

You didn't read the OP correctly
Default audio path is set to headset
The problem is that the headset won't disconnect
after the call unless you press headset button

This stopped working correctly with the last firmware update.

Call ends but headset button stays lit. (Which corresponds to static in the ear of the headset victim)

And I assume you didn't press the headset button before the call, so it was not lit before the call :)

What kind of headset and EHS cable is used?

@amriddle,
You assume correctly.

@tlpeter,
I've tried different headsets with correct HIS cord. I'd have to look up the product codes, but i think it doesn't matter. Same behavior even if i disconnect headset cord all together.

We use the Plantronics CS540 with the right EHS cable for this headset and i do not have your problem at all.

Do you also use SET HEADSYS 0 or 2 in 46xxsettings.txt with the latest GA firmware for 9608?
Do you hangup by "CTI or pressing drop" instead of the headset button?

I did some digging.

For CM they disabled this HEADSYS option because of some
other issue. Wasn't our firmware 'based' on the CM's?

Can't find the follow up document though.
