I haven Access 2000 DB that I want to password protect. Once I set the password, it tells me that I need to open the DB in Exclusive Mode in order for the password to be set. When I do that, and try to set the password again, it tells me the same thing. How do I make sure the db is opened in Exclusive mode? What am I doing wrong??

Note: This is not a shared db, it is for me only, however I want to deter anyone from trying to open this database

Dave,

sounds like your using a shortcut to open the existing MDB. Open Access with the Access icon and navigate it to where your MDB is. When you get there and are just about to press the open button. Stop !. And check the tiny box on the right hand side 'Exclusive'. Now Carry on |-0

Steady ...

Thanks for the reply... you are right, I was opening it via shortcut. I took your advice and tried it from Access, but it still gives me the same message and doesn't set the password. For some reason, when I choose 'Exclusive' it really isn't. Any thoughts?
