Anybody know of a service provider that can provide an ISDN span for cheap? I'm looking at getting one setup for lab use

Check out XO.

We needed one for lab use. I have had good luck with XO. We were even able to get them to waive the usual contract (at an in creased monthly recurring charge, of course) so we could cancel it when we were ready.

Not going to be cheeap though. Some PBXs can emulate a line sidfe PRI (but most PBX prgrammers have never done the configuration for line side).

Gordon Kapes sells and rents PRI emulators

Good luck

Around a $300-$400 monthly usage fee for a single PRI span (23 channels 1 D channel).

Our location will be in the Santa Clara/San Jose are in the state of California (Bay Area).

I just got a quote from MCI (Verizon now) for a PRI in California. $571 per month.

What exactly are you trying to do with it? Adtran Atlas products work well in a lab setup because they can provide all types of signalling and protocals plus FXS. No recurring charge and very flexible. You can probably get one on ebay for around 1-2K.

I just need to be able to set up a telephony environment with different protocols. We currently have a T1 (digital loopstart) and plenty of analog lines. But I also am looking at setting up a PRI with whatever variant I can get. We did use Expresstel (they charged us about $300-$400 per month) but they not longer can service us because it costs them too much. So I'm looking for other alternatives.
I've gotten some real good feed back and appreciate everyone's input...thanks!

we're selling pri for as low as 350, but not in your local. for a lab i usually use a cat 5 patch cable as a perfect local test pri.. as long as the pin out is rolled, works like a champ.. i saw a customer that paid for a pri to the central office and back to the same switchroom, between a nortel 81c and opt 11... at the time (10 years) each end was 1200 a month..
