Hello everybody.

I'm having problems running certain ASP's in IIS (Win2KServer), and I thought about installing SP2, but before I would like to confirm the rumors that it actually create other problems.

I would like to hear about you guys, who have applied SP2, just to find out that, now, you have a bigger problem in hands.

Thank you.

I have 20+ Win2000 systems (pro and server) that I have installed SP2 onto and so far (knock on wood) I have not had any issues related to the Service Pack. I really do not see it being an issue with IIS. Your best bet is to try it on a test server first if that is an option. Otherwise ensure you have the uninstall feature during installation.

Good luck. James Collins

Thank you very much.
It's good to know that SP2 is not causing you any problems, but, let me say that, I have installed it in a (Client machine) Win2KPro and next day, explorer was hanging every 3 hours or so, it only came out of it when ending the task or restarting. We have uninstalled SP2 from it ever since, and, no more hangings.

Yeh, if I install it, I'll make sure the 'uninstall' option is ON.

I still want to hear more about good/bad experiences with SP2..
All of you, please, contribute.

Thank you.

I've been having lots of issues with SP2, particularly as it relates to Athlon cpu's and via chip sets. Blue screens at start up that cannot be repaired and require re-format/reinstall to correct. Alot seems to point to spotty ATA100 support, but I've had newest drivers installed, etc and no joy. When I use only SP1 the problems seem to go away...

Thanks jaeddy..

I also use VIA chipsets, so this matter interests me even more now.

C'mon guys, it's not too difficult to share your experiences with SP2, to the benefit of the comunity.

Thank you.

Hi,

I've installed SP2 on many many systems, probably around 40 so far with no issues. This is on Compaq, Dell hardware.. But also VIA chipsets with AMD CPUs (Athlon & Durons)... Haven't had an issue yet.

Thanks packy.

I think it's time to test run it myself.

Thank you all, that help me reach a veredict on this.
Thank you.

If you using any SQL codes that you've created they don't work properly. One of the patch is suppose to stop hackers from getting acces to certain files on your server b/c of the SQL leak. However it does slightly improve performance if your using a P3 or P4 with the windows operating system that is if you have Internet Explorer v6.0(Beta Version). The Second Service pack is more for people who use Internet Explorer 6. I use Internet Explorer 6 at work, and 5.5 at home.
