I have an odd issue. The XP workstation in the domain have a software package installed that puts its own service in place.
In order to get the service to function properly we need to specify a user account in the properties of the service.
We do this and everything works fine until we reboot. Upon reboot the service fails to start so we go into the properties and enter in the same password again and it starts fine and works until once again it reboot.
I have tried to remove profiles and anything of the like from being the cause of the problem , but I cannot seem to get these services to start on their own. I need to type in the password after each reboot.
Any help or ideas on where to look would be appreciated.

Are you using a domain account? or a local account?

Can't you just use the local system account? Would that work?
and if not.

Does the account have the rights to log on as a Service? You have to change the Global Policy for that.

Services permissions

SC
"Communicates with the Service Controller and installed services. SC.exe retrieves and sets control information about services. You can use SC.exe for testing and debugging service programs. Service properties stored in the registry can be set to control how service applications are started at boot time and run as background processes. SC.exe parameters can configure a specific service, retrieve the current status of a service, as well as stop and start a service. You can create batch files that call various SC.exe commands to automate the startup or shutdown sequence of services. SC.exe provides capabilities similar to Services in the Administrative Tools item in Control Panel".
