Maybe i am trying to do something that the card doesnt support. But i will ask anyways. I just received an IBM Xseries 345. I configured it on their website to have a RAID 5 (3x 36.4gb HDs). I choose the ServeRAID 4LX 160 Ultra card from the list. Now i have the server here and i am trying to set it up. I inserted the card, ran the new cable from the blackplane to the new card (cable was provided) and then try booting from the CD. After the CD loads it says it can not find the controller, then finishes loading and the only controller listed is the built on controller (only support RAID1).

Am i wrong is assuming this card would provide a hardware RAID5?
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

We have a 3 X345 with a 4Lx ServeRAID adapter. All ServeRAID adapters provide RAID5. Which disk are you trying to boot?
Which slot do you have the adapter in?
It need to be in the top slot.

If the ServeRAID software does not detect it, it is
either a bad card or is not seated properly.

If it is bad call IBM support

Turned out to be a bad card. Thanks for the help!
