Server Upgrade - Installing Devices Hangs

Doing a Windows 2000 server upgrade after a crash and now when I get to 'Installing devices' the machine just hangs!
Any help appreciated.

did you repleace the device that failed?
is this a new device?
can you go into safe mode and examine the devices (install drivers)?

i do windows server install all the time. Just trust me on this and it will work I actually had to do it last night. when it is there hanging open the cd tray, then press esc, a window will pop up that will say "do you want to continue with out this file or device" and just click ok. it will continue with the install and if it is a device file thats needed you will have a chance to install it manually later.
