Hi Guis,

I'm having a problem with one of my server. Sometimes I can not connect to the Internet from the server, all others machines can browser the Internet withuot any problem.
I'm only running Exchange 5.5 on the server.
The only way to get the server to browser the Internet again is restart a DSL router(RC network), which is connect to my PIX 515.
I thought that the problem was on the router, which is propety of my Internet provider, but nothing changes after it has been replaced.
I think the problem maybe on my PIX, which is doing NAT. I've update the OS to version 6.2, but again nothing is change.

HI.

The problems you have mentioned are normaly related to the router and ISP rather to the pix.

Ask your ISP for the router config.

Try to set a low MTU on the server, and/or to enable the ip tcp-adjust (I don't remember the exact IOS command) on the router that reassembles packets using proper MTU for delivery.

Is the router doing NAT also?

When you have the problem, can the server create a telnet session via the pix to a known ip address, for example the perimeter router?

Do you get any syslog error messages at the pix (You should first enable syslog in some way)?

Bye
Yizhar Hurwitz

Hi Yizhar,

Thanks for you help,

No, the router is not doing NAT. I'l try the tcp-adjust.

Nils
