We are beginning the process of evaluating and implementing Blackberry type devices, maybe 20 altogethere. We have Exchange 2003 sp1. We plan on using a server to interface between the units and exchange. I have read on this forum that BES 4.0 and Goodlink 4.0 are options and have a few questions for any one that could help.

1. Can both of these products support multiple service providors?

2. Can both of these products handle both Blackberries and Treos?

I can respond as it relates to GoodLink. GoodLink supports multiple carriers and supports several devices. It does not, however, support the newer Blackberry devices, though it does support older, text only BB devices (957).

Currently, Blackberry only supports Blackberry devices.

BES 4.0 can support any number of wireless carriers - at one point we had well over a dozen between North America, Europe and Asia. It won't support Treo, however. There will be new models like Treo coming out this summer using RIM's software that should be fully compatible.

Steve is referring to Blackberry Connect for Palm that was announced over a year ago, but is just now shipping overseas (but not for Palm) and there has not been a release date in the US. The only question will be exactly how it will work on the Treo. On PalmSource's website, there are some specs ( on the product that imply it will only do email and limited contacts. No calendaring. Now, obviously, that could change prior to release.
