Can someone tell me how to setup rules on the Exchange server to permanently delete items from the <Sent Items> and <Deleted Items> folders for all the users? This is chewing up my store size.
Deleting items from the Sent and deleted folder is not going to resolve your issue. Deleting the items is not going to make your database smaller. Getting rid of the old data is a start but you will have to run a defrag to claim back the white space. The best policy, once you have everthing under control is to set up a mailbox storage policy which limit the size of your users mailboxes. Our policy allows users to receive email but they can not send until they reduce their mailbox size. I feel you pain bro, goood luck.
Hope this helps...
How to defragment with the Eseutil utility (Eseutil.exe)
Thanks for the articles, but is there anywhere on the Exchange Server where I can administer or setup automatic rules so these items won't be saved? It's hard to tell a CEO that he can't send or receive email until he deletes some of his stuff.
